Incredible event. Learned a lot. Re-learned a few things. Enjoyed very much walking around a relatively small space but being guided to see things differently in those small spaces as opposed to needing to go far and wide to find things of interest to shoot. Found new ways to upgrade my craft. I got a lot of value for my time and money.

I learned so much information about my camera and photography in a perfect amount of time. Instructor was very helpful and great about helping everyone. He shared so much information about lighting, numbers to look at on the screen, and basic use of the camera. ( I knew absolutely nothing about my Canon Rebel)

My photography journey began at age 7 with a toy camera that didn't take pictures, and my imagination. Eventually my experience and creativity evolved alongside of technology. From imaginary pictures to the classic disposable, to DSLR. Highschool really opened me up to what the possibilities could really become with this passion. I got to develop actual film in a dark room and expand my reaches into learning about the world of video production.
Today I'm blessed to say that my lifelong hobby is becoming my career. It hasn't been easy, but it has been very rewarding.
One thing I have learned is that in order to grow and become better you need an open mind and be willing to learn something new every time you look through your lens. Always strive for better. Whether you are just picking up a camera, or if you're an avid hobbyist, or maybe you are a professional. We can all still learn something from each other.

Ever since I started attending this event, I had always thought it would be very cool to capture the epic blast of the cannons during the performance of the 1812 overture, not just in a video, but rather a still photograph. As an photographer this is a technically challenging endeavor, and you must balance many things regarding camera settings, as well as cross your fingers and get lucky with timing the shutter button press at that exact "BOOM" moment. It was a bit disappointing as the sun set and could never really get light under the cloud cover overhead, but it did pop in the far distance. Made a few long lens frames of the bare branches against the fiery sunset, but nothing special.
